This story has been around for a while already, but I only learnt of it a few days ago. Not sure whether or not it's been discussed here already. "Berenstein Bears" didn't return any results in the RatSkep search function... probably because you're all in on the conspiracy, you bastards.
The Berenstain Bears first appeared in a 1962 children's book, taking their name from the authors...
The characters have endured to the present, with the series growing to over 300 titles.
But there are many who swear that they remember the characters from their childhood days as The Berenstein Bears, not the Berenstain Bears... despite the fact that there exist no copies of 'Berenstein' books, no record that they were ever named as such, no photographs of anyone holding a 'Berenstein' book, etc.
Possible explanations...
* Those who claim to remember them as the 'Berenstein Bears' have simply always misread the title.
* Some of us hail from an intersecting parallel universe in which the characters and their creators really are the Berensteins.
* A temporal traveler interfered with the timeline, changing 'Berenstein' to 'Berenstain'.
* There's been a glitch in the accursed matrix in which we're all trapped.
