The article says he resigned from his post at the University of California while the quoted letter is actually a 2010 resignation from the American Physical Society, and it's not clear he actually resigned from UCSB at all before his death in 2011.
'Top scientist resigns...' suggests the resignation was recent.
Leaving aside the weaselly use of 'admits' to suggest that the now-dead professor was somehow personally part of a conspiracy, the writer for yournewswire, one Sean Adl-Tabatabai seems to be either too thick or lazy to read and understand what he quotes, or prefers 'misleading' to 'honest'.
He only wrote one headline and one introductory sentence, and it seems he managed to fuck up both of them.
