OK I didn't know it was Danish, it appears in the Bible here:

Luke 2:25-35
King James Version (KJV)
25 And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.



So I would see it as a "Christian" name.


Yeah, that's how I know the name as well. But when I saw MrFungus' post I Googled it and found out that it was an old norse spelling of Simeon. :smile:
