How about answering the question about how you would talk down the driver of a truck speeding toward a crowd of people.

1. What speed is the truck doing?

2. How far away from the crowd is it?

3. Is the driver's side window open or closed?

4. What has this scenario got to do with how I might bring up my kids?

It doesn't have to do with your kids - it has to do with Scot Dutchy's assertion that talking is always a solution to problems, that violence is never necessary, and that by talking to a violent person you can both stop their violence and refrain from using violence yourself.

As to details of the scenario - well, pick any of the truck-into-crowd incidents in Europe recently and draw conclusions from them.

I'm quite sure there were a lot of people shouting at those drivers.
