You still name dropped Musk and Hawking. If I were charitable, I'd have to assume it was a joke: naming two guys as authorities who have no specialist knowldge in the relevant field. Now I am the one getting an eyeroll?

I am not much interested in chasing your goalposts. You made an extremely hyperbolic claim and cited two people known for hyperbole, one of whom should fucking well know better than to step outside his field like this. This is not howto start a serious ai discussion.

I have expressed my own fears about ai on this forum and I think I am far more qualified on these matters than Hawking and Musk. I might even sign off on that MIT paper: they are calling for more research in formal methods which happens to be my day job, and a hair's breadth from my academic field. I want to stay employable, so it's good to support people who think you should be.

The last grant application I wrote began roughly with "security vulnerabilities are becoming weapon's of war" citing stuxnet. It was an attention grabbing way to get funding.
