I worked Saturdays & all school/college holidays from the age of 15 until I started work full time. I've worked in M&S, Harrods, dog kennels, a cider factory, nannying, ironing & teaching English to foreign students. My parents didn't give me an option but then they couldn't afford to either.
Both of my kids have done various holiday/Saturday jobs eg shop assistants & waitressing. I think it helps kids grow up & realise they have to work for things.
