I liked the last part, where it mentions that if the parenting, governments and social systems aren't in place to maintain the in-built primary empathic response, then the 'secondary' drives come out (narcissism, etc.).
My initial response is one whereby if the older generation (those in control of social systems/policy/etc) are rooted in less=empathic conditioning... then the systems will reflect those principles, and will essentially create (condition) the offspring in that image.
Also doesn't address the hyper-individualistic attitudes that seem to be gaining ever more traction in the gene-pool.
