Doesn't this strike you as fundamentally dishonest? After all you can keep pleading about limits to our level of technology....forever.

It would be a little more honest to set a timeframe, say about 100 years from now, as to when our technology will resolve the matter one way or the other. Its only a little more honest because, its not as if you'll be around to be called to account for your (failed) prediction.
