I wouldn't think this particular style would make a good "main" logo, but it is probably again something for merchandising purposes. The spray-paint effect looks good (imo) on t-shirts and cups, too.
Oh no, I think that it would make a perfect main logo. It can be stylised into 3D (as you have done above) and printed in one block colour - plus it is very simple yet says a lot about the web site and it's 'inhabitants'. I think that it's a certain winner!
