It's also possible that more people might vote this time than voted last time, being the final round. A bit of promotion might assist this, too. And we know that at least some people switched their vote from the rat to #1 or #2, there are probably others who chose a strategic vote in the first place, but they could well switch to the rat if the it started making a late break. Really, I'd say the rat's a virtual shoe-in. (Hmmm, perhaps I oughtn't mention the rat and shoes in the same sentence, I might encourage THWOTH.) To put that another way, I'd say the rat was still in. By far, even. One might say it were far in.
