Due to both administrative and technical issues 'deactivation' of accounts is to be discontinued.
Currently deactivated members will remain deactivated and can reactivate by contacting staff via the admin email.
For those wishing to no longer be active on this forum the choice will remain not to be active simply by not logging in or visiting here, or for those wishing to do this, for whatever reason, in a more formal manner, the option of requesting to be banned: "Voluntary Banned" status will be available. Voluntarily banned members will functionally be in the same category as deactivated members, in that they will no longer be under the protection of the Forum Users/Membership Agreement, may not create duplicate accounts and may reactivate/unban after a minimum period of 1 month by contacting staff as is currently the case with deactivation.
Members only wanting some 'time out' assistance should contact staff for advice, Voluntary Banning is intended to replace Deactivation and is not intended for those merely seeking a short term break.
Members with current warnings who wish to be voluntarily banned will have the clock stopped on their warning expiry (6 months) and restarted should they chose to request to rejoin the forum.

Main points:
Voluntary banning effectively replaces deactivation the only difference is there will be an avatar indicating status and accounts will not be able to be activated for 1 month minimum.
'Time out' only options should be discussed with staff.
This does not effect currently deactivated members.

Avatar will indicate status and look like this:
