There was a government information booklet called Protect And Survive delivered to every home
There was also The War Game which was subsequently banned as it was considered too dangerous
But there were special screenings of it by CND and I went to one of them and it was just ridiculous
Taking shelter under a mattress under the stairs is not remotely effective against radiation exposure
