To me, the Mona Lisa looks like a portrait of a witch.
A dog might just be a witch's familiar. They usually are, in my experience.
My uncle, Ronald, taught me about such things.
But seriously...
Spare the dog unless it's one of those @*x#@x-ing things that barks day-in and day-out.
The Mona Lisa is vastly overrated. It's a little thing (compared to, say, Botticelli's La Primavera).
And in terms of composition, the Mona Lisa is nothing spectacular. Some of the portraits done by the much-overlooked Domenico Ghirlandaio are at least as good.
