I'm surprised no-one's mentioned music yet when discussing how to fall in love with a language.
I've got that part well covered, Saim. Not a day goes by when I do not wake up to the sound of good music. I know bands ranging from Steely Dan (my current favorite) to the Clash, Depeche Mode, Love, The Doors, Roxy Music to guys like Clapton, Dylan, Van Morrison, Brian Eno, etc (recommendations here too would help though).

That's quite a difficult task. My first language, Hindi, is understood by roughly 85% of the people in the country.
Really? That's quite a lot. Ethnologue claims only 120 million second-language speakers of Hindi. Or is this understanding only at a basic level (i.e., not 'fluent' speakers?)?
More or less, yes.
