The asteroid was discovered by one of his students while Dad and another professor at Alfred University were hunting asteroids - the student, Adrienne Makita, noticed a moving dot in the fluff of the CCD images. When she heard he'd died, she requested that the asteroid be named after him (he'd discovered a couple other asteroids himself, and named them after other professors at Alfred University).
Glad to know this has finally been completed.
Beautiful Weaver: no better tribute can be bestowed by humans on one of their fellows than by memorialising them in the wonders of the greater cosmos!
