Sorry for resurrecting this long dead thread.
I googled 'Biosemiotics pseudoscience' and this is the first hit I got. Shame is that it is a really old thread.
To the original poster, are you still interested in this topic? I am actually an alumnus of the University of Tartu (with a Master's in Semiotics) and had a good amount of biosemiotics forced down my throat. The short answer is; as far as I can tell, its a load of garbage.
I can elaborate if anyone is interested.
