Have you seen Dollhouse, Thomas? Another of Joss Whedon's short-lived series. It lasted longer than Firefly, and at least they had enough warning to give it a proper ending. I really liked it. But don't watch it expecting it to have the humour that Buffy or Firefly has...

I should warn you that it takes a while to get you really involved. In fact, when it came out, previewers said the same: i.e. stick with it for at least 6 episodes. During the first half of the first season it was just like it was telling new stories each week and then it switched to this pretty continuous story line that continued to the end of the show and was IMO very gripping, and very moving.
