This is one of the benefits of curved screens, the edges are the same distance away as the center. If you're sitting relatively close, that can make a difference to where your eyes are focused to. It also will limit the geometric distortion inevitable at the edges. and it's closer to how you actually see. Focus issues are at the heart of why most people who have issues watching 3D get headaches and other problems. 3D may be a bit of a gimmick now, but it's definitely the only way to go for VR. They'll have to solve the focus issue, holographically probably.
