OK, so some of us do just use a TV to slob on the sofa and watch regular stuff and films. My old TV is a basic early, pretty HD 32" flat screen Samsung. It has no USB slots and only 2 hdmi plugs, the back is a mess of adapters and extra leads to accommodate tech. It still works and will likely be put to bedroom duties.
My question is, what to get to replace it. I'm sure I'm missing out of viewing quality. I don't need to be lashing out cash on something without longevity or something I'm going to need overpriced subscription channels for. Just decent quality that's going to last and bigger. UHD or 4K seems the way but what? Every other review I read goes the opposite way.

Up to £800 or so max and aiming for around 50"
