Charles Dance was also the best part of the otherwise disappointing movie The Golden Child (1986)...
The Last Action Hero definitely deserved to do better. Perhaps one of the reasons it didn't fare too well was the competition at the time. It was running against the box office phenomenon that was Jurassic Park.
