irritating incidental music
Nice term that, incidental music. It's one of the main things that piss me off about the romantic comedy/chick flick genre, the background music is nearly always what I would term frivolous. I imagine a musical director being ordered to keep it light hearted and simplistic, to stick mainly to childish tunes that can be played with one finger on a piano, and set the tone of each scene as rigidly as if it is a puppet show for 3yr olds.
