The violinist in MDB is part of the band, so its not tracked over whatever the band is playing. The way the violin is used, is a more of a "Lead" musical part as opposed to the "rhythm" cello of Apocalyptica.
Its Doom Metal though, so much heavier than Apocalyptica.
