That intro to Elite: Frontier is amazing, but I never had a single encounter like that in the whole of the game.
"Dog fighting"? The original Elite was way better. In Frontier, all I ever did was test my mouse dexterity to lock onto a ship and then autopilot towards it. No barrel rolls or surprising the enemy by hiding behind a larger vessel.
But it was cool doing assassination missions, waiting for your victim to leave the planet, and then analysing their hyperdrive cloud to track them down.
