QFT.

Just for the record, I'm playing a Legend/Ironman/Grim Horizon/no tutorial missions run at the moment. Zero soldier deaths at this point and I'm about two thirds of the way through.

So, yeah, it's totally possible, because I'm not really all that great at the game.

I actually like to hang about on the steam forums from time to time and read posts from all the baddies. Every new "The RNG is broken" thread cracks me up - the game cheats in the player's favour on every difficulty below legend.

Oh, but you cannot tell me you had no soldiers injured, who then had to spend some time healing, after missions. THAT is unavoidable, no matter what you do, because of how often the AI manages to get some ridiculous hits in. The only way you can avoid is by wearing mid to heavy armor that gives you enough HP that your men won't incur any healing time if they only lose the extra HP given by armor, in a mission. And though the Ghost, alone (never mind the Archangel), and the Gene mods can make your squad overpowered, especially towards the end, you cannot possibly expect me to believe anyone can run through the first half of the game, on any mission, without faults, without losing some civilians (from 18) on evacuation missions, without penalties.

Sometimes, civilians just collapse and die, without any enemies attacking them, and in the fog, as well, when and where you cannot even see them, yet. And they shouldn't, really. I read they enemy only kills them, when you can already see them. Clearly not the case, as civilians can randomly drop, after you end a turn, for no reason, at all.

And enemies can and will hit you, sometimes even on elevated ground, from a good distance. I could pretty much kill half the enemies, on the final alien ship, with just my two snipers, using In the Zone and Squadsite + Mimetic Skin, to eliminate whole rooms without stopping and then even being free to move, after.

Sure, I can almost always avoid reaction fire by dashing, even when they should really hit me with it.

More often than not, when I'd have a country with 3-4 panic level, or even 5, the game would give me a random plain panic-reducing mission (or Abduction - which have the same effect), ANYWHERE but the country that needs it the most, increasing the risk of me losing them as an ally. Happened with France on my first play-through in Enemy Unknown. And though I managed better in Enemy Within, the AI kept doing the same bullshit, sending me to countries that didn't need panic reduction, while ignoring those that did, for which I had to use satellite launches to keep them in check long enough.

So, saying the game "cheats in the player's favour on every difficulty below legend" is evidently bullshit.
