Additionally, while I use a late model iPad, I passed my 2013 iPad Air to my brother who uses it all the time.
My iPhone SE I dropped and and the screen broke. 4 years old but could have replaced screen and battery, or bought the same refurbished model like we recently did for my FiL.
Hate on Apple all you want, but at least be reasonable.
