Do you mind if I ask what exactly she was suggesting you try?

Yea, I've got raging PMS, really low mood, bad temper and all the rest, she wasn't terribly specific but she mentioned oil of Evening Primrose taken along with vitamin supplements.

My doctor certainly suggested I take B6 and Evening Primrose as well. In fact I think I had two different doctors suggest that. You might be interested in this report by the BBC: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/349077.stm

The BBC article mentions a study that suggests that B6 is twice as effective as a placebo...

A doctor is just some dude who read shit in a book. Not sure why they should be any more or less rational than the average person.

Classic SD.

Should be more rational than the average person when it comes to claims related to healthcare. I thought that was the whole point of studying those books.

I missed SD's post.

You missed nothing. It was a waste of internet bandwidth. It will forever consume 50B of storage space on our server. That's 50 bytes we'll never get back.

A lot of the articles I've found are just too hazy for my liking. There doesn't seem to be a concencus on dosage of remedies and vitamins, affects of these on other medication, effects of these if there are other illnesses present. Not to mention the long term effects and long term benefit.
