Try a big chunk of aged Parmesan just before bed.

mpaskinsky wrote:Understanding a dream can help when trying to sort out real-life problems or decisions because it can help point out what your intuition is saying to you.

My intuition is apparently saying "You're on your own". My dreams, on the rare occasions I remember them, are never about anything. A random collection of imagery and intense emotions almost never having anything to do with the day's events -- I can count on one hand the occasions that they did, and on those occasions my brain's only message seemed to be "you did this way too much today". The only other time they've had any connection to waking life is when they're on the titilating side, and that's only due to their results.

Can't speak for anyone else of course, but my dreams are absolute bunk. I love Jung and Campbell, but anyone who says there's universal symbols and that they must mean something are full of shit.

I have genuinely frightening dreams. So frightening that even in my current situation I wake up feeling grateful they weren’t real.
She battled through in every kind of tribulation,
She revelled in adventure and imagination.
She never listened to no hater, liar,
Breaking boundaries and chasing fire.
Oh, my my! Oh my, she flies!

Sorry to hear that. Last truly frightening dream I can remember was high school I think, and even then it was just the feeling, the imagery wasn't anything that would be real life scary.

About a week ago dreamed that I opened the drivers door of my pickup and a flood of copperheads spilled out like an avalanche. All different sizes, but all copperheads. Raiders of the Lost Ark numbers of snakes. I’m not particularly frightened of snakes, even venomous ones, but I awoke with a shout on that one. The color was as accurate as 4K HD, and the smell was overpowering. One wonders what that was about.

Just your brain trying to make sure you're ready in case a pile of snakes falls out of your car. Y'never know.

We don't get them this far south, what do they smell like?

I smelled a black mamba's butt hole once in Swaziland, they smell like curry.

I just put my latest in the rant thread. It had a Bernie cameo.
I don't have too many frightening dreams thankfully, but a lot of frustrating ones where I can't accomplish something. Recurring themes are not being able to find a bathroom and being late for work. :yuk:
Some of them are good, like getting to go on space missions. I went to the moon with NASA recently. That wasn't the first time I've been there in my dreams, but the last time it didn't last long enough for me to get out and walk around.

Copperheads release a musk-like stench that is a combination of dirty sweat socks, putrid meat, burning hair and vomit. Smelling of one’s asshole is as low down on my list of things to do on a slow day as it gets. Just thinking about it almost makes me wretch.

Their "musk" glands are around their anus, so that's where the smell is strongest.

If I need a nonsense source to help me analyse my problems, I have a very good edition of the I Ching... and what's most funny is that if often works.

Ah the I Ching, my favorite oracle. A lesson on the benefits of the truly vague.

Oh yeah, I forgot about anal scent glands. WTF, nature? The Ghost of Mr Woodchuckles works in mysterious ways.

Can't quite agree there... sure, many versions I've seen give into that problem, but with a proper translation, that gives not just a summary judgment, but also the image, and if you cast the thing correctly, the changing lines and the resulting hexagram, it can yield a fairly complex and precise result, that is a very interesting filter to look at whatever problem you have at hand.

Of course, the best way is to know the book real well, and cast the oracle with the yarrow stalks method, then your own subconscious actively influences the result you get and it's really an act of self analysis.

I do have what I understand to be one of the best translations, the Wilhelm/Baynes version, which I've used for nearly 25 years. I find opening to random pages usually yields the same results, no mumbo jumbo necessary. Then again, some folks need a little "magic" to get in the right mindset.
