I think they got it wrong, the universe is a joke!

The universe isn't only a brain. Your brain is a universe.

Smoke a joint then read that. Your mind will blow.
We are alive, so the universe must be said to be alive. We are its consciousness as well as our own. We rise out of the cosmos and see its mesh of patterns, and it strikes us as beautiful. And that feeling is the most important thing in all the universe.

Reeve wrote:This is the paper: http://www.nature.com/srep/2012/121113/ ... 00793.html

From November 2012!

The abstract:

Prediction and control of the dynamics of complex networks is a central problem in network science. Structural and dynamical similarities of different real networks suggest that some universal laws might accurately describe the dynamics of these networks, albeit the nature and common origin of such laws remain elusive. Here we show that the causal network representing the large-scale structure of spacetime in our accelerating universe is a power-law graph with strong clustering, similar to many complex networks such as the Internet, social, or biological networks. We prove that this structural similarity is a consequence of the asymptotic equivalence between the large-scale growth dynamics of complex networks and causal networks. This equivalence suggests that unexpectedly similar laws govern the dynamics of complex networks and spacetime in the universe, with implications to network science and cosmology.

In other words, the paper is merely saying that the large scale structure of the universe merely exhibits structural features similar to those seen in various networks, including biological ones. Once again, the actual science is largely ignored by journalists pursuing a sensational headline, and said headline immediately has the woo-heads tugging their pryamid and crystal todgers.

All talismans, and relics, are allowed in such rare cases. I'm fondling a Dromaeosaur tooth. Each to their own when we rely on someone working under a deadline to disseminate accurate translation of the thrust of real science. No need to limit the woo either. Yet to be discovered means of abandoning reason may sprout anew. With a comet on the way I can imagine the sale of aluminum foil will skyrocket (pun intended).

Ummm, fine sharp serrations.

As far as I can tell, nothing. There IS only the questionable analogy. It's a piece of woo.
