Spirit Science - Crystals

#1  Postby Rhubis » Aug 22, 2012 2:06 pm

Where do you start with this one?

Crystals are apparently magical things that can store the mental energies, balance your bodies energy, help you become one with the universe, cure you of all disease (they are all caused by imbalanced energy), fix your car (by being placed nearby) are alive and make great gifts!

What makes this worse is that this is part of a series that is over 4 hours long and its probably not even the worst part. If you don't feel like watching all of it then watch the first 2 minutes or even from 1:15 to 1:40 to get the general idea of what kind of woo it is (The dangerous kind).

There is no way in hell someone could make so many bullshit claims in that period of time without knowing it's all made up. My best guess is that someone is incredibly desperate for money/success and see's a great opportunity exploiting people willing to believe this crap.

There is nothing to debunk. It's all made up and intended to be. The key here isn't improving the health of the general population, it's just selling a product.

But I've SEEN the evidence of crystal powers. In the Fortress of Solitude.

:this:

I had to listen to a speech by this woman who claims to be a nutritionist. She believed that olive oil had cleansing properties. She ingested copious amounts of it. She isolated little hard brown lumps of her poop as evidence.

And passed her little pellets around in a jar to the group.  :yuk: :nono:

My defense for staying to even listen to this hogwash was that it was a speech given at Toastmasters. Obviously, people are there to network and to get practice selling whatever they want to sell. More sadly though, some people listening to her actually believed her.

:sigh:

Didn't those brave men and women of the Stargate-SG1 team find some of those crystals on a remote planet?

Whats really damn depressing is that even if the creator is spouting bullshit to make money, the ideas he is spouting are classic crystal woo that a ton of people do believe... My flatmates relative got rid of all of her medication because of the healing abilities of crystals. Turned out in the end that crystals are not a good replacement for prescription drugs.

Even though the two tales in question are apocryphal, the tales about the use of powdered diamonds for medicinal purposes should act as a warning here. :)

One of the apocryphal tales centres upon Frederick II, Holy Roman Emperor (1194-1250). Who was allegedly given powdered diamonds to cure his dysentery at the end of his life. I can't find anything on record that substantiates this claim, but I suspect that if this tale is true, the internal haemorrhaging that would have resulted from swallowing the ground fragments, would have hastened rather than postponed his death.

The other apocryphal tale centres upon Pope Clement VII, who according to some sources died as a result of consuming Amanita phalloides, the Death Cap mushroom. The apocryphal tale surrounding him, is that he had no less than 40,000 ducats' worth of powdered diamonds administered to him as a purported treatment for his ills.

Crystals did bugger all for these two.

I recall coming across a post elsewhere, where the writer was waxing lyrical about crystal energies, and wondering how anyone could possibly doubt the truth of it, since we all knew full well that watches were powered by quartz crystals.

The thread went very quiet when I pointed out what the quartz crystal actually did, and why her watch also had a battery.

Watching that video was like having someone vomiting directly onto my brain. But I had expected as much, although the narration by someone who sounds like a character from southpark was a surprise.

Oh you skeptics! if only you had an open mind and understood the power of crystals! These things are rare and mysterious! Its not like everyone has crystals in their homes (if they did disease would not exist). If everyone would just sprinkle small crystals on their food or put crystals in their drinks or had work surfaces made of some kind of crystals then the world would be a better place!

Ok you've swayed me. I will try to bring crystals into my life for the betterment of all my ills and the improved behaviour of my dogs.

But where can I find these fantastical objects? Do I have to go into space?

You'd think that with how amazing they are! But no! http://www.crystalreflection.co.uk/healing-crystals.asp and i've just bought some Amazonite "The frequency of Amazonite is connected to the throat and heart chakras allowing one to communicate one's truth with the knowledge that it is from the heart and spirit and not ego driven." So you know I'm telling the truth!

I thought amazonite was the stuff that allowed me to buy goods cheaply online and have them delivered the next day. Or is it simply the power source?

Seeing this site... I'm staggered that this stuff is being sold with these descriptions. I'm not too sure on advertising law but isn't there something in there that says you can't claim your products do things that are fucking impossible?

I'm having a look at some of the products (I looked at amazonite to see if it promised "next day delivery" but no) and the wording seems to be suitably vague as to avoid treading on claiming anything 100%. Plus I imagine the statutory rights of an individual who purchased said products would not be effected if they sought recompense for the product not working as intended.

Although if it turned into a legal ding dong it would be hilarious, as how on earth would anyone prove that the product had failed to allow ".....one to communicate higher truths and knowledge with discernment."

I would like to return this Satyaloka Azeztulite as i've had it for over a week now and i'm not enlightened at all! And this Seraphinite has not allowed me to contact the angelic realms! Is this just a faulty batch of crystals?

I'd love to see the advice from trading standards on that.
