That's either superstition or a protection racket.

It's likely both.

A-ha, good idea. I'll make a sign to hang next to it that says "bewitched broom". Maybe it'll keep the mice out. :nono:

Spawn was born on Friday the 13th of Feb, which was incredibly lucky. Another few hours and it would have been the 14th of Feb, Valentine's day, which I wouldn't wish on anyone.

...But the other unlucky numbers have raised many an eyebrow in the plane-spotting community, which laments the fact that a new scheme for European flight numbers due later this year will make flight 666 a thing of the past.

Good business decision.
I would have flown on that flight, but only with my lucky horseshoe.

Horseshoes may only be transported on flights in "transparent, secure, tamper-evident bags".

Citation please.
Actually, I do have a brass horseshoe which has been hanging downwards on my fence at the bottom of my garden for many years.
So it's not iron which is supposed to ward off ghosts and fairies, but as I've never seen a ghost or fairy there I assume it works just as well.

Ah, but you wouldn't see them anyway, because they rush around at FTL speeds! ;)

Actually, yes, since 13 is an unlucky (negative) thing and Friday is an unlucky (negative) thing (because Jesus dying) so Friday the 13th is actually a lucky thing (negative x negative = positive).

My father was born on Good Friday the 13th. So how does that one add up?

Nope, they're lazy slackers. 450 million years without bothering to evolve.

They have evolved a lot in aspects important to horseshoe crabs, which you don't notice with your primate-tinted glasses.
