Dual N-Back and working memory?

Hey everyone,

I am interested in what people think of this dual n-back working memory training. According to the researchers at the university of Michigan, using dual n back can improve a person's intelligence. Their fluid intelligence that is. Fluid intelligence is important for IQ tests and thinking independently of previous knowledge. Before dual n-back, it was thought that IQ was essentially fixed and could not be improved to a meaningful extent. Now, however, practicing this game can improve a person's mind.

I'm surprised to hear that it was thought IQ was fixed, I was told the opposite 20 years ago when I first took an IQ test.

I'm reading Fuster's work on the PFC and working memory right now. I would be very surprised if WM and other traits backing IQ are not trainable skills.
