Morgellons - alien infestation?

#1  Postby chairman bill » May 07, 2011 10:19 pm

OK. Alien infestation sounds a bit OTT, because it is, but who'd look at a thread titled 'Morgellons'? Mention was made in another thread some while ago - http://www.rationalskepticism.org/music/has-joni-mitchell-gone-daft-t5717.html - but rather than a Zombie thread, thought it worthy of its own.

I have my thoughts about this condition, which you can read about here http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2011/may/07/morgellons-mysterious-illness

What I'd like is for you to read the article, then answer the poll question - did it make you itch?

Good article, and the 'Itch Theory' seems the most plausible explanation although it does sound as if some of them are correctly diagnosed with DOP. What struck me was how distrusted their Doctors were.

I was itching before I read the article. My bumhole was sore too. Therefore aliens.

This is lengthy, but wonderful journalism.

Regardless of what is causing it, I hope these people find peace somehow and that while we should embrace skepticism and doubt, that people are not just thrown to the side due to their ignorance or suffering. Obviously something is happening, and doubt does not correlate to assuming we know what they are experiencing, no matter how odd. The fact that many people are simply turned away rather than expertly examined or helped to discover an actual answer is disturbing and sad.
Question marks may be at the end of sentences; but in life they are the introduction.
