Religion has the same effet as taking drugs

#1  Postby aban57 » Nov 30, 2016 11:20 am

Lead researcher Jeff Anderson from the University of Utah explains how his study on (only) 19 Mormons showed that religious experience activates the same brain areas as sex, drugs and rock and roll.

The article where I discovered that says it's one of the first experiments showing that. Yet, I've heard about this a long time ago, and it seemed a rather accepted idea at the time. Or maybe I'm totally wrong ?

If that were really true, I'd be going to church a lot more often

So the State of Utah should either:

1. Legalise drugs.

or

2. Make religion a criminal offence.

Well it's no wonder religions are always in favour of banning these things. They know their competition.

I suspect it's identical to fanatic political fervor as well.

Of course, the pertinent follow up question is, does the fact that humans biology works this way, directly prove the legitimacy or illegitimacy of anything they are reacting this way too?

I would suggest that true dry logic would not support such an assumption. That thinking would be identical to attributing moral or religious meaning to some other physical thing, like declaring that since gravity on Earth results in things falling down, that therefore anything "up," is suspect.
