Chaos

Grauniad quotes Hesiod saying the universe was created from chaos, as does Genesis "formless and void".

So is the Genesis story nicked from the Greeks? More plagiarism?

Genesis does not refer to the Universe. It says God created Heaven and Earth. But then, Earth was "formless and empty"

1. Genesis refers to Earth, not the Universe.
2. Genesis refers to the state of Earth after the first step of creation not the state of the whole world before the creation of the univserse.
3. Genesis refers to emptiness rather than chaos.

Isn't heaven and earth the universe? Surely they are interchangeable concepts?

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

The other things happening here are darkness, face of the deep, movement and the creation of light.

Sorry, there be chaos there!

So-the-fuck-what, Clive? You've convinced me you know how to use a search engine. You just search for bullshit.

Whatever floats your boat. Some historian said something that might not be right. Wow, then.

Thus neatly demonstrating that if you loosen enough definitions, change enough meanings, and engage in enough confirmation bias, you can "prove" anything at all.
