Or maybe we're not qualified to provide advice on this and they should seek help?

Good luck in the UAE. He finds it embarrassing - thus the anonymity of the internet. Homophobia is a worldwide problem...anybody's input could be valuable - I doubt there are more than a dozen specialists in UAE.

Your comments in this thread appear foolish and misguided.

The OP needs help. They do not need us to indulge them. They need to be encouraged away from here to where help can be found. Fallible has already made that point and suggesting that someone get help is very opposite of insensitive.

And it doesn't matter if the OP is in the UAE or anywhere else in the world where getting this help might be challenging. We are not in a position to help them.

I doubt medication could alleviate the problem.

Again, no fucking idea what you're talking about. Someone with vague 'life experience' and someone qualified in psychology pontificating and indulging someone's mental health issue are NOT helpful.

No one gives a shit about what you doubt, you've already made it abundantly clear you don't have the first clue about this issue.

Your infantile use of swear words indicates very precisely your value in this discourse.

Keep It Real - look at it another way. The majority of us are in no way qualified to provide help to someone with a mental health problem and public forums are a poor medium by which to provide such help.

Any help we might actually provide would be by accident, rather than by design and we're far more likely to do harm.

Your claim that the use of some words is somehow more infantile than others is fucking idiotic and does nothing to give you a shred of credibility in this discussion.

Some of us are qualified, and I disagree that a forum is a bad medium within which to air those thoughts. I doubt harm is more likely than help if the spirit is correctly aligned.

This is nothing more than wishful thinking on your part. I remember when Terry Pratchett was diagnosed with Alzheimer's that he commented to the effect that (and I paraphrase) "while offers of help are noted with the sentiment they are intended, unless you're a qualified neurosurgeon, they're unlikely to do much good."
