Oh..my..god! First off, not all countries have "democracies". If only you could just not go to church or a mosque, but there is homophobia from them everywhere and it is affecting LGBT people in every way of life. In Uganda you can die or go to prison for being LGBT. In almost every country same sex marriage is illegal, you can be fired from work legally for being LGBT, you can easily be bullied in school, etc. Do you not see that as a problem?

It seems that the OP was referring to Canada, as was I,or at least the Western Democracies.

So ok, in Uganda it is bad - but I'm not African by race so I let them decide.

Yes. In the US. Just now they are trying to make a law where it would be illegal to fire someone over them being LGBT. And everywhere, even the West, there are hardly any same sex marriages that are legal and, again, even in the West, there is a shit ton of homophobia hurting the happiness of a LGBT person.

If they are making a law to make it illegal to fire then that is surely a good thing, right?

SSM is legal in many EU countries and US states - so what's the beef?

The last point is childish idealism, because one could easily turn that around by saying 'there is a lot of negativity towards ugly hetero people from the opposite gender' , so just tough titties on that one I'm afraid.

Yes, I don't know if it will pass and it is 2014, but as now they can be fired and kicked out of housing for being LGBT. No, it isn't many countries. Except religion isn't saying ugly hetero are sinners, are going to burn in hell, they should be murdered, etc., and the law protects ugly hetero people, unlike with LGBT's. See the difference?

This certainly is not the case in the EU, US or Canada.

And as for religion - why follow it if you are gay? That is not rational.

Like I said earlier, just don't bother with the Church and no problemo.
