Bollocks. In Europe, for example red/pink were the male colours for centuries. Red/ purple was the colour of emperors and other influential men. Red was associated with heat, blood, aggression, the sun, and attracting attention. Plus the dye was extremely expensive to produce. Pink was considered the "little red" ie for boys. Blue, on the other hand, was seen as passive and associated with the night, the moon, and thus as female. That only changed in the early 20th century.
Keep on believing.

Thanks for corroborating my stance that pink is a feminine colour.

Or do you know a lot of males that like to be viewed as 'little boys'? :eh:

You are either not paying attention or trolling the forum. My bet is on the latter.

Mine's on the former.

I don't believe anyone could fail so badly at trolling if they were paying attention.

Unless they were, you know, an idiot.

Either way, I have two short planks here set aside for measuring such things.

As for Freud's 'theories' in general, I have my own hypothesis, namely that he was engaged in projection. In other words, he had a thing for his own mother.

I think he just spoke authoritatively enough that other stupid fucks did what has been done for eons: turned the cunt into a priest.

I don't even think he had a thing for his mum, really. I just think he started to take his own bullshit so seriously that he ended up feeling that he had to go with the conclusions he produced, like almost any other theologian.

What else are we to expect?

You might have a point there.

Oh dear, I said point. Was that a Freudian slip?

Many men who wear pink are homosexual.

Those that are not, tend to be tough enough to wear this colour as a badge of masculinity, a kind of satire.

Bollox. Pink shirts are very in at the moment. Although they call them 'salmon'.

Looks alright with a suit (though I wear blue to go with my eyes) but not great on their own if you're fair. Black hairs can pull it off though.

You choose your shirt to match your eyes? So gay :coffee:

I'm just chuffing on a ciggie before I take my enormous volvo estate out to the shops.

Does this mean I have a mother fixation and a small cock?

 80's philosophy
If a male's shirt matches pants or shoes, it's gay. (I never heard of matching clothes to ones' eyes, so that's a whole new category of gay)
I didn't know that law was in effect in Europe too!
But in the 80's gay didn't mean homosexual, of course, it just meant dorky.

No. It means you have emphysema and poor driving skills.

McNulty wrote:I believe in Freud though many do not - his sexual theories are timeless and, I believe, correct.

For instance:

Women wear pink because subconsciously it attracts males, due to the resemblance of the colour of the labia.

Old people like to live by the sea as it is symbolic of the watery womb, to which they will soon return.

Curls at the end of women's hair attracts males due to its resemblance of pubic hair.

A fast and expensive car is the equivalent of the successful sperm.

What do members of the board make of these theories? :ask:

I've trained as a Freudian analyst, and don't remember him writing any of these things. But that was a while ago, and I haven't read everything he wrote. Do you have any references to where he makes these claims?

Where I lived that was an outdated meaning. (I was a kid in the 80's) Old people who used gay to mean happy, were gay. (No offense Mrs. Aggie, everyone over 25 would be old, and everyone old, was gay! )

It actually did mean homosexual, but kids didn't really use it in that way.
It had the exact same meaning as nerd or dork, it just meant you weren't "cool".
Of course, it's a sad bigoted origin, but as kids we didn't think that deeply about our choice of insults. At least I didn't :)

I'm not sure a Volvo is the intended car in the "big car-big cock" analogy at all, I think it's just wishful thinking on Mr C's part, when in fact his Volvo just reinforces his stereotype of middle-class, Guardian reading, science teacher with 4 kids :tehe:

And don't forget the wolly jumper :P

Besides, no self-respecting gay man would be caught in side a vulvaVolvo.

Volvos have a reputation for being strong and reliable but not very sexy. I am saying no more

I own a Volvo and I'll have you know it oozes sexuality. Well, it oozes something. I can only assume that the lack of gorgeous women throwing themselves at me is an indication of how intimidatingly sexy my car makes me.

I drive a Subaru Forester, quite similar to this one:

So as it's an SUV, that means I'm being all Freudian. But it's classed as a small SUV - so apparently I might have size issues. But I'm Caucasian, driving a Japanese small SUV - so really, I'm a giant among men.
