'I'm in love with my grandson and we're having a baby'

Luve is blind

Pearl Carter is positively glowing with joy. She has a handsome new boyfriend, is enjoying an active sex life after many years of celibacy and, amazingly, is preparing to become a mother again.

But the retired grandmother isn't carrying the baby herself. She and her young lover have spent a staggering $54,000 hiring a surrogate to help them with their dreams of having a child.

What makes Pearl's decision to become a mum again even more shocking is that her new boyfriend is her biological grandson, 26-year-old Phil Bailey.

Phil is the son of Pearl's daughter Lynette Bailey, and the pair is braving public horror and even prison by breaking one of the last taboos – incest.

However, the pair makes no apologies for their controversial plan to start their own family.

'I'm not interested in anyone else's opinion,' Pearl says. 'I am in love with Phil and he's in love with me. Soon I'll be holding my son or daughter in my arms and Phil will be the proud dad'.

Phil adds, 'I love Pearl with all my heart. I've always been attracted to older women and I think Pearl is gorgeous. Now I'm going to be a dad and I can't wait

I find this personally repulsive, but I don't see why laws should be based on 'ewwwwww!!!'.
She battled through in every kind of tribulation,
She revelled in adventure and imagination.
She never listened to no hater, liar,
Breaking boundaries and chasing fire.
Oh, my my! Oh my, she flies!

Bizarre, it''ll simultaneously be her child and great-grandchild.

It's just a lifestyle, like abortion.
How American politics goes
1 Republicans cut tax, let everything run down to barely working...8 years
2 Democrats fix public spending to normal...8 years
Rinse, repeat.

I know a transgendered woman who transitioned in middle age, after a life doing manual labor. She doesn't look very feminine; if you saw her on the street, you might even laugh at her. She's a nice lady, though. I like her.

Her girlfriend is a lot younger than she is, and the girlfriend isn't very smart- in fact, she has some real cognitive function issues. Some people might think she was being taken advantage of- though, from what I've seen, she's being taken care of, in ways she hasn't been in the past.

The two of them have a relationship that works for them, but a lot of people would have a problem with it. And the oddity of their relationship is immediately obvious to other people; when they simply walk down the street, people notice; heads turn. Strangers who see them see freaks in a bizarre relationship; they don't have time to get to know them and see nice people in a strange situation, making a life that works for them.

What do they do about this? They don't give interviews to the newspaper or television about how great their relationship is, and how fulfilling their sex life is. They have a nice farm, just the two of them, small enough to manage. A cow, some chickens, some crops. They aren't recluses- they have friends, acquaintances, a social life, and they meet new people. But they enjoy having a life private enough that they can enjoy one another without people staring or commenting. They don't want attention, and they know they won't get much approval. They just want to live their lives and be as happy as they can.

This story has a very subtle moral, which might be applicable to the news story in the OP.

Great story, HE. Good for them! A truly loving relationship is transformative and life-affirming for both partners, and your story seems to illustrate that. Of course not for those who expect relationships to follow the Hollywood model.
