There's a shop near me that sells classic cars in various states of rostral. Hot rods, street rods, and the like. I wish I had another garage I could dedicate to a project car, it would sure be fun.

That is the wrong model of the VW bus. Never mind. The retro kids never get it right.

As a non-motorist, I only get to appreciate cars from the POV of an on-looker, so I am interested mainly in good-looking cars, and I find that certain Jags win the car beauty contest hands down:

Best-looking sports car:

Best-looking saloon car:

Oddly, Jeremy Clarkson would agree with my first item, but deplore the second, going by what he has said on TV.

I think the S-Type is fucking awful. I think Jeremy Clarkson described it as a German's idea of what a British car looks like. Although he did give it a good review. Either XJ is way better looking.

I always liked the XJS growing up, although I don't think most people do.

Image

As for the VW campervan, I've never been in one, but they've always looked impractically small to me, given their stated use.

Well there very many and here is a typical one:

They were quite small but that is what many liked about them; the cosiness.

I don't understand how you can be so derogatory about what, to me, is a beautiful car. The other Jags are OK, but not as good-looking as the S-type.
JC, certainly poured scorn on the S-type, but he said it was an American (not German) idea of what a British car looks like (Ford owned Jaguar at the tine the S-type was designed by Ian Calum). I suspect that he was denigrating the old and praising the new, in order to drum up business for Jaguar. :dunno:

I'm with Scot, a true hippy van has a split windscreen. I had a '67 back in the day. Loved that thing.

No it is my brain problems. I am suffering from cluster headaches and tinnitus. I am taking heavy medicine which affects my logical thought patterns amongst all the other side effects but it is better than the headaches. Just two more weeks.

The AC Cobra is an icon and a legendary sports car:-

Image

But although many know it was based on the British AC Bristol:-

Image

It is not as commonly known that the AC Bristol was inspired by the first production Ferrari, known affectionately as the Barchetta, which won both the Le Mans and the mille miglia in the late 40's. This is my holy grail of cars, destined to remain a pipe dream of course.

Image

This picture has been my PC and cell phone wallpaper for years.
Coincidentally one of my favourite songs is "Red Barchetta" by RUSH. The song was inspired by a short story called "a nice morning drive", which was written about an MG!

I had a Land Rover Discovery series 1.

Nice wide back seat and grab handles everywhere, very convenient and plenty of leverage.

For loading passengers, of course.

A mate of mine at school had a Ford Zodiac Estate with king sized mattress in the back. He called the "shagging wagon".
