Interesting insight into one man's depression. 4/5.

Compared to Wuthering Heights in reviews. Yes, it's set in the same area. Yes, it's got hapless women, a brooding protagonist that no one can seem to manage to keep away from and a good guy. I can see why the comparison is made. This one's got syphilis though. It's not bad, but something's not quite right which I can't put my finger on. Maybe it's because the phrase 'a quiet silence' made it unscathed through the edit. Anyway, 3.75/5.

Interesting crime novel from the author of His Bloody Project. Reminded me of Crime and Punishment, one of my favourite books, in places with its flawed protagonist. 4/5.

24. rawblood - catriona ward - 9/10 - pleasantly surprised by this one, i was rather hesitant about a book written by someone called catriona...;) very dark, very gothic, brooding atmosphere, set in my favourite place, and very well written, i thought....just, at times, needed a bit more happening...reminded me a lot of books like the essex serpent and the atmosphere of films like crimson peak (which i ended up rewatching this afternoon because of this book)...
