Curvy Women Lingerie Ads Not Allowed

So there's a story going around that this Lane Bryant lingerie ad was not warmly received by ABC or Fox -- according to Lane Bryant itself, Fox wouldn't show it during American Idol without edits and ABC wouldn't show it during Dancing With The Stars, except at the very end.

And if you think about it, if that's true, it makes perfect sense.

I mean, in particular, you can't just show a lady's body in the middle of Dancing With The Stars.

So a firm claims that their advertisement was rejected, thus arousing controversy and having more people see their advertisement?

Hell, I'm a credulous sheep and generically outraged with Fox over this one-sided and clearly unbiased news story from a credible, only marginally blog-related source.

/awaits further evidence
//Maybe they were angry the women in the advertisement were hotter than the stars they showed pictures of? Pamela Anderson in particular (did she always look, err... dead?)

I bet NPR wouldn't accept the ads either.

Edit: if the woman in the ad is "curvy" as the thread title suggests, the lingerie in question does a good job of making her look fat instead.

Is it because of the model's 'curviness' that the ad was rejected? I can't recall ever seeing an underwear ad on TV during prime time, though I'll admit I don't watch a lot of television.

Use the Google on the computer machine.

Use the google yourself to find a source for the claim besides their own blog. You can't, it's the only source.

Actually, ABC denies that the events occurred like the lingerie maker said they did. Given that its a 'he said, she said' I don't see how you possibly justify your position that there's clearly a credible source showing that this happened as said.

But hey, as I said, I am generically outraged at this generic offense of relegating an ad to the last 10 minutes of the show, which is clearly a generically horrible fate (why do they even show ads in the last 10 minutes? Everyone knows that viewers never buy products shown in the last 10 minutes of a show! How evil of ABC)

Victoria's Secret did prime time.

Watched a segment on CNN on this issue.

The ad will be aired, in the last few minutes of American Idol and with some parts either removed or redone according to the Lane Bryant company.

Beautiful women which for some reason caused Americans to be upset. Not that I can figure out why in a country with 1/3 of the population being morbidly obese.

I could understand if they wouldn't have aired a commercial for the latest heart attack from Burgerking but this....

I'm pretty sure it's because it's a little "sexy" but then what bra adverts aren't?

Unless they're sports bras or something....

Except that's not the case. Nobody has a problem with Victoria's Secret ads, or the skimpy outfits showcased on Dancing With the Stars. They're bothered because these women aren't fucking stick figures, they're closer to normal.

I guess it would have been ok if it had been one of those skinny, anorexic, half-dead women instead.

That is what I'm saying.

I'm not considering the size-0-freaks-of-nature-Americas-next-top-model-type of women to be beautiful.
