Any major limitations? Say if I want to use it to make comics or do animations, is this decent enough to use? I'm not picky. I've been drawing with MS Paint.

I've had about three or four Wacom tablets over the past 20 years, and they're pretty amazing. I'm using a medium Intuos now. But I really dislike the small size you've linked to, and would suggest forking out just a little more cash to get something that'll be easier to use. It just doesn't have enough room to capture the accuracy.
So this is decent enough, but you may want to test them out in store to see which feels right for you.

I'm just looking at Wacom's page now, and they've really shifted their product line. There used to be three different tablet lines, and they're all Intuos now! That's pretty confusing. But regardless, they make good tablets.

Definitely go for the bigger one. Also, look around on Craigslist for a used one, you can get an older tablet for dirt cheap. I had my Intuos 1 for well over a decade until the drivers were no longer compatible. Last year I picked up a large Intuos 3 for 30 bucks, works like a dream.

Well, it's either this or nothing for a while since I'm on a strict budget.

I also don't want to have to deal with the risk of buying online. I've had bad experiences, even with a legit site like Amazon. I don't like to buy anything used if it's more than 20 bucks... maybe not even 20. It depends on what it is.
I hadn't seen any reliable brands for that cheap from anything I trusted.

I think I can tolerate the small size. Like I said, I now use a mouse on a very small table. I'm used to limitations. I mostly just want to make sure that this won't have bugs or won't let me use color or just basic shit... VERY basic shit. One day when I'm not broke, I eventually want to get one of those Cintiqs I think they're called.
For now, as long as it's better than a mouse and actually works, I'm fine. I apologize if I was too vague.

I've been looking up videos and stuff as well as asking around (here as well as other people), and I see that it takes a bit getting used to, especially if you have a big screen, but I'm on a smallish but not mini laptop, so I think that will benefit me. I see this one guy using this small tablet with a huge monitor and he seems to be doing okay after a little while. I think I can handle the learning curve there.

that's the one we got the destroyer of worlds recently...she's perfectly happy with it for what she wants to do and the price is half decent...as you;ve said, the main complaint online seems to be the size of it - i noticed this when researching into it but she's not complained of any major issues...worth a punt at that price...

I see from the specifications that the size of the work area is roughly 8 by 6 inches... the same size as the 'Genius' tablet that I used up until a few years ago. (Nowadays, I prefer pencil and pen, scan the B&W outline drawing, then just do the color rendering digitally).



I never had any difficulties with the 8 x 6 inch work area. You can zoom in and zoom out with whatever bitmap editor you're using (even MS-Paint), and this allows you to work at essentially any scale.
Go for it! I'm sure you'll enjoy working with it very much.

I've seen people at work using them. Similarly sized pads with a ~24" monitor and it seems to work well for them to edit photos and graphics.

Tablets are a must have in graphics. Go with the biggest possible if you can.

My daughter has the Intuos comic medium, and finds it excellent from a software point of view. It took her less than a week to get used to. She's had it nearly a year now, and it's never missed a beat.

Got my first wacom tablet in roughly 1999 and have been using them ever since.

ETA: That was long before I switched to PC's. I was running mac os 7 then.

I got this one, its Trust not better than Wacom of course but doing the job. Size of surface is an important factor and pressure recognition.

I got it today.
I was expecting the worst, but this is great. There is a learning curve as I expected, but I'm picking it up faster than I did with drawing with a plain old mouse... and I love the pressure sensitivity.
I find that my biggest hurdle is my confidence. I was doing better when I wasn't thinking too much about it.
Also, I keep treating it like a mouse. I need to get out of that habit.

What do you mean, treating it like a mouse? Also is cool you can use it as a mouse with your computer, no?

Since using a Wacom for six months, I've hated mouses. Way too imprecise. Digital-pens are where it's at.

Sorry, I should have been more descriptive. I know that you can use it as a replacement for a mouse in general, but what I meant was that my muscle memory keeps treating it like a regular mouse, meaning that I forget that the tablet is mapped to the positions of the screen. Sometimes with a mouse, I will pick it up and reposition it, and I gotta remember the pen doesn't work that way. I hope I make sense. It's past 3 am.

I know what you mean. I had the same learning curve with the tablet and stylus. But you'll quickly get used to it.

If you're running Windows download the Sketchable app. It's a fantastic drawing app.

Oh yeah, that takes a second to get used to. But shouldn't take too long, especially if you start using it to navigate your desktop.

It came with Artrage and I like it. Sketchable is a better free program? If so, what makes it better?
