All the best people are born in early February.
She battled through in every kind of tribulation,
She revelled in adventure and imagination.
She never listened to no hater, liar,
Breaking boundaries and chasing fire.
Oh, my my! Oh my, she flies!

My perception of time is seriously screwed if Fallible is putting another candle on the cake this month

She seemed to be thirty nine for ever and yet forty has just whizzed by and so it makes absolutely no sense

I did suspect she was lying about her years but only because it seemed like an awfully long time to be one age

And given the age it was did not help either though I cannot be responsible for what my subconscious actually thinks

Cheers. I studied Joyce at uni. I came to the conclusion that I admired what he was trying to do but I'm not that bright and it was wasted on me.

That is the conclusion that many make. It tends to be an insiders club. Mind you a good few people in Dublin make a bob or two out of the gullible tourists.

Are you assuming we "insiders" are somehow dishonest about our love of his work?

I don't feel like much of an insider with my liking of Joyce. In many parts I'm not entirely sure what is being alluded to. I just like how the words roll and the images they evoke.

I'm not really sure what an insider would be. Someone who like his work? Well yes, his work tends to be for people who like his work.

Same here. FW was definitely meant to be read aloud.
