Fall - are you sure it was a painting & not just something done specifically for the book cover?

I remember turning the book over and reading what the cover art was. I have a habit of doing that. This is why I thought it was Leonora Carrington, I half-remember seeing her name there. It's the right style, but it never comes up in a web search of her work.
