[Your country's music] My contribution - Portugal

#1  Postby biology_portugal » Mar 21, 2010 12:53 am

I'm new to the forum, but I is quite obvious that we have people fro all over the world around. So i thought that in this section we could all create a topic with music from our own country (traditional or from artists that are not very well known outside the country).

So I start with something that is very dear to me, being an University student, a Tuna. It is a group of students that play traditional instruments, from guitar to cavaquinho (a kind of ukulele):

Next I think the Fado is known worldwide, but only the Lisbon version, sung in Fado Houses in that city, so I will here show a different style, called the Coimbra fado, also sung by University students, but in this case in the street, usualy in Serenatas:

Now leaving the traditional, just a couple of pop/rock artists, one of them singing in english:

If someone shows interest, I'll post some more examples
