Who thought that chucking rocks from a crooked tower
Would help shift a whole planet from its galactic centre?
As quick as a flash with descriptive, predictive power
A kettle takes longer to boil to a far flung observer.

Eve wasn't created by a guy with a great white beard,
He neatly nestled her in a nested hierarchy
Though not as regal ruler rather a monkey's peer,
An elucidation so disturbing it implies anarchy.

A proto-cyborg announces the demise of philosophy.
A fallen perfect world is the gods' delusion.
Or however above you want to affix the apostrophe,
Universal wonders are such profound profusion

I find it neither disheartening or embarrassing
Our blue-dot pales in significance in comparison.

FIFM.

I think that flows a bit better. This poetry writing is fun, though I'm not givingup my day-job as barstool technician

I shall entitle it, Ye of little faith. An allusion to Carl Sagan.

How is it that hardly any major religion has looked at science and concluded, “This is better than we thought! The Universe is much bigger than our prophets said, grander, more subtle, more elegant?” Instead they say, “No, no, no! My god is a little god, and I want him to stay that way.” A religion, old or new, that stressed the magnificence of the Universe as revealed by modern science might be able to draw forth reserves of reverence and awe hardly tapped by the conventional faiths.

I hope the tutor isn't religous :shifty:

still figuring out the quirks of this post and then was trying to edit my post when I realised it had not ended.... sorry for confusion ... its my first time on this site ... am glad the fellow who posted the doggerel early in the thread returned to clothe his RS argument in a pome.

I enjoyed the Four Body Problem even more... maybe one day I will post a poem too.

I just took that as freeform.
She battled through in every kind of tribulation,
She revelled in adventure and imagination.
She never listened to no hater, liar,
Breaking boundaries and chasing fire.
Oh, my my! Oh my, she flies!

He's probably referring to this on the first page.

Animavore wrote:Her flaps were like mud-flaps,
Hanging to her knees.
As she ran naked through the meadows
They were flapping in the breeze.

But maybe you can explain this bit to me, seeing as I'm new to this thread....

luv is different to love ... and I try to have some respect and a sense of humour

Nora was serious about the poetry thread and I thought it would give this site some breadth.
Its great having all the science to read and discuss ... but I have never been a fan of too big a disconnect between the arts and sciences.
The bad-ass seemed to be taking a swing with his big bat at her OP.
