Ah. Well, as far as the characters, they are quite rough and show a lot of artifice initially. I will say it goes through a lot of tonal shifts and comes out as something quite different as it progresses though.

Two eps in and I love it. Lyonne plays my favourite character in OITNB as well. So far my fav character the tall bleach blonde. Name is escaping me at the mo’.

I'm quite enjoying The Punisher, about 8 episodes in.
I am not a fan of the main character, or any of the characters in fact, but I have been sucked into the story somehow. I can't put a finger on anything specific that is good, but I always want to see what happens next.

We tried The Good Pace. We failed. Does this mean we are bad people?

I've had the song stuck in my head for a week.

This is because of what I said about John Grant, isn't it? It seems unfair to me, somehow.

Maybe. But also I didn't like The Good Place. It's so...American, with its irritating incidental music and obviousness.

irritating incidental music

Nice term that, incidental music. It's one of the main things that piss me off about the romantic comedy/chick flick genre, the background music is nearly always what I would term frivolous. I imagine a musical director being ordered to keep it light hearted and simplistic, to stick mainly to childish tunes that can be played with one finger on a piano, and set the tone of each scene as rigidly as if it is a puppet show for 3yr olds.

Yes! Plinky plonky plinky plinky ooh, we're keeping it edgy by making it syncopated plinky plonky and there's a little ping on the triangle.

Ahhh - so refreshing to be able to express that and have a woman relate instead of giving me the hairy eyeball.

Yes. The very worst kind of people. The kind of people who don't like the same TV shows I like.

I suppose next you're going to tell me you hate Bette Midler.

Um...well...I'm sure that having a singing voice like a warped 12-inch is a good thing and I'm just a philistine.

Mum and Dad don't like The Good Place. Thommo doesn't like Russian Doil. What even is happening?
