The character quiz.

#1  Postby The_Metatron » Jan 09, 2012 8:44 pm

I was just thinking of one of my favorite characters in literature, Beñat Le Cagot, whose exit line was: "By the Four Balls of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph...".

Whose character is it?

Honor system, no wiki... First one to get it goes next.

The idea being that you name the character and maybe a (more or less) popular quote by said character so people can guess who wrote them?
- Pam.
- Yes?

OK. No idea who you were talking about, though. Just making sure I got the concept.

May I suggest an additional rule whereby you reveal the answer after (say) 24 hours? Otherwise the thread will die at the first stumper (like the one above...).

I think that would be a good idea. I'll leave this friend of Nicolai Hel the figment of a mysterious author's imagination until tomorrow, then.

That is the title.

And, the author, for extra credit?

Since you were the first to come remotely close (or even try to), you're up next. Name your literary character, and we will name the author.

Heh. I do not know who writ it. I shall guess at Frederick Forsyth. :dunno:

Hmm, so I need to supply someone you might just recognise but might not: not too obscure, not too obvious... How about Adso?
Adso wrote:I leave this manuscript, I do not know for whom; I no longer know what it is about...

What you were looking for earlier was the author who goes by the pen name of Trevanian. The first character comes from a book titled Shibumi. Highly recommend it.

Highly.

Hmmm... Who would have been privy to the fact that collectively Jesus, Mary and Joseph had 4 balls?

Can we ask questions? Did any of them have hernias and who was their physician?
