So all my friends were playing BL3 so I decided to join them. It's like 2 if they improved everything.

Except for the story, the vilain and the humor, apparently.

The rest does look good though.

Meh. Don't care about any of that. It irks me that I can't skip it.

Looks like they put some footage from RDR2 in there, probably by mistake...

I've played BL3 all week to the detriment of everything else and I don't regret it.

All I can see when I close my eyes is numbers and loot popping.

One comment states, "it's Lemmings, with people".

I was going to say it's an opposite version of Lemmings, in some sequences it looks like you lead people to their death.

If anyone else is playing the Cube World closed beta, I would be interested in your opinion.

There seems to be somewhat of a controversy in the community regarding the major change to the progression system to eliminate advancement through kill grinding (no kill experience) and replace it with an achievement system and gear attributes. as well as a land binding of gear to lands and kingdoms (with "+" items).

Personally I think not only was it a bold idea, but I think it also is the perfect solution to the usual problem of ORPGs of end game doldrums, maxed out gear, no risk and no challenge. Cube world is virtually endless and having become a god before you have even scratched the surface is just a waste.

I love that each time you leave a land you are on a brand new adventure in a new land with the same volume of challenges and the same level of risk that holds that feeling you love when playing a game for as long as you want to. You can always return to previously conquered kingdoms and lands if you feel like just one shotting everything.

Also the fact that you aren't pressured into grinding mobs all night to get your next level, but instead you are encouraged to quest. Interact with the NPCs in a more fluid non scripted way that adds to emergent play. I think it's genius.

Thoughts?

I wish I'd known before that it is better in BL3 to do the story then do all the side quests in Mayhem mode after completing the campaign.

Well now you know.

Not a game but more of a living diorama builder/simulator. This has become my escape and creative outlet for the past couple of nights. The tools are so satisfying to work with. Well worth the $15 USD if you are into this sort of thing.

Good old Sid Meier's Pirates, a relatively recent version, I think it was for windows XP or 7

I've been playing a bit of Indivisible, a new game from the creators of Skullgirls. It's very quirky, well written and charming. The gameplay is pretty unique, although I've heard it's based on the game Valkyrie Profile. The basic concept is a sort of platformer a bit like a linear metroidvania as you get skills which allow you to traverse the environment as you progress. But combat is like an RPG where hitting an enemy starts a quasi-turn based battle with 4 party members.

The turn based system is a bit like an action game (far more so than the recent South Park games even), you have to correctly time your attacks and defences in real time but your attack points fill up over a few seconds for each character like the ATB did in Final Fantasy XIII or Swords and Souls: Neverseen or similar.

I've really enjoyed the game so far. The best part is the companion dialogue. The shaman you meet really near the start is genuinely funny.

Reminds me of this relatively recent human invention, I think it was the wheel or internet :)
