String theorists suggest space wormholes possible

#1  Postby zaybu » Aug 19, 2011 11:48 am

Good news for science fiction afficionados.

We construct traversable wormholes in dilatonic Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet theory in four spacetime dimensions, without needing any form of exotic matter. We determine their domain of existence, and show that these wormholes satisfy a generalised Smarr relation. We demonstrate linear stability with respect to radial perturbations for a subset of these wormholes.

Does opening one of those wormholes for a second or two require a multitude of the energy present in our universe again?

i agree with jaydot

untill string theory comes up with something tangible im going to consider it a failed theory that keeps being resuscitated despite the objections of its mother

I disagree, string theory is a beautiful idea, its brilliant, so brilliant that there is a very good chance that i might die never knowing it quite well.
I dont think it can be all wrong.

Oh good, I was just wondering this morning if it was possible to construct traversable wormholes in dilatonic Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet theory in four spacetime dimensions, without needing any form of exotic matter.
